Welcome to the website for the Temporal Perception Lab of the School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Manchester!

On this website you can find out about time psychology research in general and the current and past research output from our lab at Manchester.

The idea that human's possess an internal clock for measuring the duration of events goes back to at least the 1920's. Our research is theory driven based on Scalar Expectancy Theory (SET). SET was originally conceived as a model of animal timing, but through the development of human analogue experiments in the 1980's it has also become the leading theory of human timing.

As well as reading about our current and past research you can also download PDF's of our published journal articles. There are also links to the pages of other timing researchers with whom we have collaborative links.

Have any questions about time perception? Then post your question on our question board, eventually this will feed into the FAQ.

If you wish to contact us directly then email us at manchestertiming@googlemail.com.

We are changing! This site is currently being overhauled with new information so keep checking back on us.
