The two temporal generalisation gradients above (Figures 1 & 2) demonstrate that without the presence of the second standard responding peaks at the first standard duration. After participants have encoded the second standard duration, peak responding shifts. If the second standard is shorter than the first, peak responding shifts to the longest of the comparison durations. If the second standard is longer than the first then peak responding shifts to the shortest of the comparison durations.

Current research is varying the delays used, instead of just 30 seconds, 5, 10, 20 and 30 second delays are being employed to determine at what point people start to use their memory of the second standard to perform tasks relating to the first standard.
